Judy says: “I make sure my brides and wedding couples understand right off that the relationship we build will enhance the intimacy found in the photos of their wedding day. Aside from recording the ceremony and more candid moments of the day, much of wedding photography is about interaction between a photographer and her/his subjects. On the day of the wedding, I want to make sure my couples are focused on each other, not continually aware of the camera following their every move. Having worked together with a couple on their engagement photos and bridal portraits, I know them well enough to judge their reactions to suggestions I might make, where they can react naturally and spontaneously without performing for me or for the camera.“
While there are many photographers that offer similar styles, Judy feels that what sets her apart is a personal and friendly approach to her clients. “As a professional” she says, “I understand that my couples have many choices when it comes to their photography. I want to stand apart by making sure that my couples have a great experience from beginning to end. Being a boutique studio means I can customize my work to my client’s needs, and that I can offer them products and services they may not get elsewhere. I work with vendors from all over the world, and ask a lot of questions in order to suggest options my couples would like.“
And what happens on the big day? Judy sums it up by saying; “Your wedding day should be about having fun with your family and friends, and it should be about the love you share for each other. I make an effort to blend in with the guests during the reception and ceremony, and try to keep everyone moving and laughing when it comes to the family shots for the day. Having been a bride myself I know what so many of my couples are going through; the high and low points of the day, and all the emotions in between. I understand my couples as an artist and photographer, and as a bride. Every wedding is different, and every couple is unique, so every wedding I photograph never turns out the same. It’s very much driven by the couple, and by their dynamics. That’s what makes your wedding photos uniquely “you”, and for me, that’s what makes wedding photography so enjoyable.“
